Hello BLAST Parents & Youth Family!
1] Pool Party
- Thursday 7/3
- 6:00 to 8:30
- This week's Pool Party will be @ the Lyon's House again: (mapquest.com or google map it)
985 Cloverly Rd.
Berwyn, PA 19312
- Call Brian Kinney's Cell 610.304.2351 if you are planning on coming and think it might be canceled due to rain. Keep my cell phone so that you can give me a buzz if you ever need to talk to me.
- Bring $3 for Pizza
2] No Digging Deeper or Pool Party next week (7/8, 7/10)! : (
- We'll be with 8th & 9th graders at BLAST Camp all week. Pray that students would surrender their lives to Jesus!
3] High-Energy Kids by Doug West
- Since we don't have much in the way of announcements today I thought I'd throw an article at you. Below is an excerpt from the article.
"In the past decade several highly caffeinated and sugared beverages, with brand names like “Jolt” and “Surge,” were popular among youths. Over the past several years there has been the rise of so-called energy drinks, which are legal for underage drinkers and fashionable thanks to celebrity word of mouth. The lure of energy drinks in an increasingly hyper-scheduled culture, and their promise to help consumers keep up with the accelerating pace of life—whether to get/keep the party going or pull an all-nighter—should not be surprising. CPYU explores this growing trend in energy drinks, particularly on their appeal to teens."
"Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." - Psalm 46:10
God bless.

Hey Parents of BLAST Students!
The past week was nuts! Hershey Park, Beach Day, and the Phillies Game were fantastic. We enjoyed getting to know your middle schoolers and even some of you moms and dads. Here's what coming up next:
1] Digging Deeper - Details: Small group Bible study, games, and pizza.
- Start's TONIGHT! (sorry for the miscomunication in the last email)
- 6:00 to 8:30pm
- @ COS Gym
- Bring $3 for Pizza
- Bring the Bible because we'll use it!
2] Pool Party
- Details: We'll head to a couple different families homes this summer for pool parties.
- Thursday 7/26
- 6:00 to 8:30
- This week's Pool Party will be @ the Lyon's House: (mapquest.com or google map it)
985 Cloverly Rd.
Berwyn, PA 19312
- Call Brian Kinney's Cell 610.304.2351 if you are planning on coming and think it might be canceled due to rain. Keep my cell phone so that you can give me a buzz if you ever need to talk to me.
- Bring $3 for Pizza
3] BLAST Camp!
- Details: It's still not too late to sign up. Let me know if your new 8th grader would like to attend (if your BLASTer just finished 6th grade then Adventure Camp is for them).
- July 7-11
- $290
4] Dinner at YOUR House!
- Details: Brian & Abbie would like to join you and your family for dinner at your house. We’ve kept this summer’s Wednesday evenings as open as possible for this purpose. If your incoming 7th grader is a boy, then Brian, his wife Jonica (maybe), and Mike will be the people to spend the evening with you. If your incoming 7th grader is a girl, then Abbie and Emily will be the people to spend the evening with you. Just reply to this email and let us know when you’d like us to come over. If Wednesday evenings aren’t good for your family, we can talk about another time. Reply to this email and let us know if you'd like to host us at your place.
5] Opportunity to Serve as a Snack Mom (or Dad)!
- We like having food for students on Sunday morning. But we sure could use your help. Linette Stevenson helped us out this past year with coordinating parents to bring snacks on Sunday mornings. Would any of you like to get involved? Here's the low down: > Enough snacks for 60ish hungry middle schoolers > No drinks... ever (they spill it) > I've seen fruit, cereal bars, doughnuts, carrots, cheese, apples, crackers, muffins, grapes, pretzels, pizza, and cookies. Parents can decide what they'll bring... either a combination of the above list or something different. I'm not much for feeding the kids lots of sugar, so I encourage the parents to try to stay away from sugar overload on Sunday mornings. > Linette would have parents sign up for two week or one month stints, whichever worked best for each family. > Whichever parent is doing snacks that Sunday needs to set the snacks up. We'll clean it up after, unless there's a special bowl or dish that the family wants to keep, then they'll need to come back for it. Usually people leave the snacks in the box they bought them.
Let me know if you would like to join the team.
6] Prayer Calendar!
- We like it when people pray for BLAST. Since you're children attend this I think you are the best candidates to pray for us. Attached is a super cool prayer calendar that Abbie made so that we can all be praying together.

Hello BLAST Parents!
I attached a copy of our Quiet Time sheet for this upcoming week. This will be our last QT sheet for the school year. It's entitled 'General Joshua and the Smack Down at Ai'.
If your middle schooler doesn't come tonight to H2O, print the attached .pdf file for them so they can keep up with their reading of the Bible on their own.
God bless.

Hello BLAST Families!

2] Feather Wars is Friday night (5/23) from 7-9pm. Have your child bring a pillow (that you don't mind getting dirty) and their favorite happy snack to share. We'll play all kinds of pillow games!
3] A Parent's Blog
~ Abbie found this blog and wanted to share it with you. The most recent entry deals with teenagers and appropriate cell phone use. It's written from a mom's perspective. A lot of other moms have read this and posted their opinion below the entry on how they handle cell phones in their family. Check it out, there's some great thoughts here:
God bless.

Hey BLAST Parents & Youth Family!
Below are a couple announcement and passages of scripture that you may find helpful: 1] H2O> We've only got two more H2O's this year. Tonight (5/14) and next week (5/21). 2] Feather Wars> Friday, May 23 from 7-9pm. Have the students bring two things: their pillows (ones that you don't mind getting dirty) and their favorite happy snack to share. We'll play all-kinds-of-fun pillow games like... capture the pillow, pillow jousting, and pillow hang ball. We'll also end the night with an all out pillow fight. Pick up and drop off at the gym! 3] Parent Seminar> See the attached flier. I'd encourage you to consider being a part of this. There's a session that would be interesting going to called Raising Exceptional Teens and Lovin' It! The seminar is this weekend @ COS. Check it out. 4] I was in class this past week having a good time studying Deuteronomy. A few passages stood out to me as worth sharing with you. I copied the verses here for you to read. Take note what God commands parents to communicate to their kids and then how that should be communicated: Deuteronomy 4:9-10 "Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children's children- how on the day that you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, the LORD said to me, 'Gather the people to me, that I may let them hear my words, so that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children so.' Deuteronomy 6:20 In the future, when your son asks you, "What is the meaning of the stipulations, decrees and laws the LORD our God has commanded you?" tell him: "We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, but the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. Deuteronomy 11:18-21 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth. After reading the above verses I went away convicted, so I thought I'd pass them on to you :D - What's the value in teaching our children to 'fear' the LORD as was told to the Israelites in Dt. 4:10? - Simply remembering & reminiscing what God has done is so helpful. These are the reasons why you or I believe that God is indeed good because God's goodness is more than just a theological fact, it's a part of our relational story. The Israelites have Egypt in Dt. 6:20. What do you have? When was Jesus the hero of the day? These stories are worth telling our children. - After reading Dt. 11:18 do you handle the Bible similarly? That's all for now. God bless. -Brian Kinney COS Ministry to Middle School Students 610.688.6338 x286 www.cosnet.org/students/blast

BLAST Parents & Youth Family,
1] The Block Party is upon us! Tomorrow is looking fantastic: Partly Cloudy + high of 79 = way better than rain. Let me give you some last minute details so that you don't go into our block party too confused:
~ Meet at COS @ 8am, we'll return here by 6pm. We'll car pool together.
~ Bring a pair of gloves for lite trash pickup (9am-12am).
~ Bring a lite sack lunch to tide you over until we eat BBQ chicken, hotdogs, and hamburgers at 3pm (this will be free).
~ Bring appropriate clothes as the weather looks to be pretty warm.
again... BLAST is partnering up with Chester's Refuge in Christ Church and two other churches to clean up some of Chester's streets, close off part of W 10th St. and invite the community to play games and eat food for free (similar to Autumn Fest... only in Chester). The goal is to share the gospel (in deeds) with the community and remind them that Pastor Barron of Refuge in Christ Church cares about them.
Middle school students, families, and friends are invited.
If you have any problems, call my cell @ 610.304.2351
2] Attached is the Devo Sheet for this week.
See you tomorrow!
